About Canadian Dollar / Japanese Yen
CAD/JPY is the exchange rate between the Canadian dollar and the Japanese yen. The price shows how many Japanese yen one Canadian dollar buys: when CADJPY rises, the Canadian dollar is strengthening against the Japanese yen; when it falls, it is weakening.
CAD/JPY is a cross pair: neither side is the US dollar, so its price reflects the balance between Canada and Japan directly. The Canadian dollar is tied closely to oil, one of Canada's main exports, and to the US economy, its biggest trading partner. The Japanese yen has long been used as a funding currency because of Japan's low interest rates, and it often strengthens when markets turn risk-averse.
On Xellion's MT5 platform CADJPY is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 Canadian dollars, and one pip is 0.01, as with other pairs quoted in yen.
