ABOUT

About US Tech 100 (Nasdaq 100)

The Nasdaq-100, traded as NAS100, tracks 100 of the largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. It is weighted towards technology and communication companies, alongside consumer and healthcare names.

Because of that tech focus, the index is especially sensitive to interest rates, earnings from the largest technology companies and themes such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors. It has often moved more sharply than broader US indices.

On Xellion's MT5 platform NAS100 is traded as an index CFD, so you can trade the US tech sector in either direction with a single position.

What moves the price

  • US interest rates and bond yields
  • Earnings and guidance from the largest technology companies

FAQ

NAS100 questions

Why are financial companies excluded from the Nasdaq-100?

The index is designed to track the largest non-financial companies on Nasdaq, so banks and other financial firms are left out by its rules.

What is one point of NAS100 worth on one lot?

The contract size is 1, so each one-point move in NAS100 changes the value of one lot by $1.

Why is NAS100 sensitive to interest rates?

Many tech companies are valued on expected future growth, and higher interest rates reduce the present value of those future earnings, so rate expectations can move the index strongly.

When is NAS100 most active?

The CFD trades nearly 24 hours on weekdays, with the most activity during the US cash session, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. New York time.
