About WTI Crude Oil
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is the main US crude oil benchmark, quoted in US dollars per barrel. It is a light, sweet crude, and its reference delivery point is Cushing, Oklahoma.
Oil prices reflect the balance between global supply and demand. Production decisions by OPEC+ countries, US shale output, inventories and the pace of economic growth all play a role, and supply disruptions in producing regions can move the price quickly.
On Xellion's MT5 platform WTI is traded as a CFD, so you can trade rising or falling prices without dealing in physical barrels. One lot is 1,000 barrels.

USOIL questions
What is the difference between WTI and Brent?
Both are benchmark crude oils. WTI is produced in the United States and priced at Cushing, Oklahoma; Brent comes from the North Sea and is used to price much of the world's seaborne crude. Their prices usually move together but differ by a spread that changes over time.
What is the weekly US inventory report?
The US Energy Information Administration publishes weekly data on US crude and fuel stocks. A bigger-than-expected build in stocks can weigh on prices, while a larger draw can support them.
What does a $0.01 move in WTI mean for one lot?
One lot is 1,000 barrels, so a $0.01 move changes the value of one lot by $10, and a $1 move by $1,000.
When is crude oil most active?
WTI trades nearly 24 hours on weekdays, with the most activity usually during US trading hours and around the weekly inventory data.
