CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Trading should only ever use money you can afford to lose.
Before you start
- Read the Risk Disclosure and the Customer Agreement.
- Practise on a demo account until you understand margin, leverage and how orders are filled.
- Decide on a monthly budget for trading and keep it separate from money for bills and savings.
While you trade
- Set a stop-loss on every position, and size positions so that one loss is a small part of your account. The position size calculator helps.
- Use less leverage than the maximum. Lower leverage means a bigger price move is needed to wipe out your margin.
- Do not add money to recover losses, and do not trade to make up for a bad day.
- Take breaks, especially after a run of losses or wins.
Warning signs
- You trade with money meant for essentials, or borrow to trade.
- You hide your trading from family or friends.
- You feel anxious or irritable when you are not trading.
- You keep increasing position sizes to win back losses.
If any of these sound familiar, stop trading and talk to someone you trust. You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing support@xellion.com.
