ABOUT

About Australian Dollar / Singapore Dollar

AUD/SGD is the exchange rate between the Australian dollar and the Singapore dollar. The price shows how many Singapore dollars one Australian dollar buys: when AUDSGD rises, the Australian dollar is strengthening against the Singapore dollar; when it falls, it is weakening.

AUD/SGD is a minor or exotic cross, so it usually trades with less liquidity and wider spreads than the majors and can move sharply around local news. The Australian dollar is closely linked to commodity exports such as iron ore and to demand from China, Australia's largest trading partner. The Singapore dollar is managed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore against a basket of trading-partner currencies rather than through an interest-rate target.

On Xellion's MT5 platform AUDSGD is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 Australian dollars; the pip size and value are shown in the MT5 contract specification.

FAQ

AUDSGD questions

What does the AUDSGD price mean?

It is the number of Singapore dollars needed to buy one Australian dollar. A rising price means the Australian dollar is gaining against the Singapore dollar; a falling price means it is losing ground.

When is AUDSGD most active?

AUDSGD trades around the clock on weekdays, but it is usually busiest during the Sydney and Tokyo sessions, and especially in the hours when the two sessions overlap. The forex market hours tool shows those sessions in your local time.

How much is one pip worth on AUDSGD?

Pip value on AUDSGD depends on the pip size in the MT5 contract specification and on the Singapore dollar exchange rate against your account currency. Because Singapore dollars are converted into your account currency, the value per pip changes as that rate moves.

How much margin do I need for one lot of AUDSGD?

Margin is the position value divided by your leverage. One lot is 100,000 Australian dollars, so at 1:500 you need 200 AUD and at 1:100 you need 1,000 AUD, converted into your account currency. Leverage up to 1:2000 is available depending on your account; the margin calculator gives the exact figure.
