ABOUT

About Norwegian Krone / Swedish Krona

NOK/SEK is the exchange rate between the Norwegian krone and the Swedish krona. The price shows how many Swedish kronor one Norwegian krone buys: when NOKSEK rises, the Norwegian krone is strengthening against the Swedish krona; when it falls, it is weakening.

NOK/SEK is a minor or exotic cross, so it usually trades with less liquidity and wider spreads than the majors and can move sharply around local news. The Norwegian krone is tied to oil and gas, Norway's main exports, and to flows from its large sovereign wealth fund. The Swedish krona reflects a small, export-oriented economy and is sensitive to global growth and risk appetite.

On Xellion's MT5 platform NOKSEK is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 Norwegian kroner; the pip size and value are shown in the MT5 contract specification.

What moves the price

FAQ

NOKSEK questions

What does the NOKSEK price mean?

It is the number of Swedish kronor needed to buy one Norwegian krone. A rising price means the Norwegian krone is gaining against the Swedish krona; a falling price means it is losing ground.

When is NOKSEK most active?

Like all major FX pairs, NOKSEK trades around the clock on weekdays, but it is usually busiest during the London session, when markets for both currencies are open.

How much is one pip worth on NOKSEK?

Pip value on NOKSEK depends on the pip size in the MT5 contract specification and on the Swedish krona exchange rate against your account currency. Because Swedish kronor are converted into your account currency, the value per pip changes as that rate moves.

How much margin do I need for one lot of NOKSEK?

Margin is the position value divided by your leverage. One lot is 100,000 Norwegian kroner, so at 1:500 you need 200 NOK and at 1:100 you need 1,000 NOK, converted into your account currency. Leverage up to 1:2000 is available depending on your account; the margin calculator gives the exact figure.
