About Germany 40 (DAX)
The DAX, traded as GER40, tracks 40 of the largest companies listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. It includes major names in cars, chemicals, industry, software, insurance and finance.
Many DAX companies are big exporters, so the index is sensitive to global trade, demand from China and the United States, and the euro exchange rate. Unlike most indices, the DAX is a total-return index, meaning dividends are reinvested in its calculation.
On Xellion's MT5 platform GER40 is traded as an index CFD, so you can trade the German market in either direction with one position.

GER40 questions
What is a total-return index?
In a total-return index, dividends paid by the companies are assumed to be reinvested, so the index level reflects both price changes and dividends.
What is one point of GER40 worth on one lot?
The contract size is 1, so each one-point move in GER40 changes the value of one lot by €1, converted into your account currency.
When is GER40 most active?
The CFD trades nearly 24 hours on weekdays, with the most activity during Frankfurt's main session, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central European Time.
Why does the euro affect the DAX?
Many DAX companies earn a large share of revenue abroad. A weaker euro can make their exports more competitive and lift the value of foreign earnings.
