ABOUT

About British Pound / Singapore Dollar

GBP/SGD is the exchange rate between the British pound and the Singapore dollar. The price shows how many Singapore dollars one British pound buys: when GBPSGD rises, the British pound is strengthening against the Singapore dollar; when it falls, it is weakening.

GBP/SGD is a minor or exotic cross, so it usually trades with less liquidity and wider spreads than the majors and can move sharply around local news. The British pound is one of the oldest currencies still in use and is traded heavily in London, the largest forex centre. The Singapore dollar is managed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore against a basket of trading-partner currencies rather than through an interest-rate target.

On Xellion's MT5 platform GBPSGD is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 British pounds; the pip size and value are shown in the MT5 contract specification.

FAQ

GBPSGD questions

What does the GBPSGD price mean?

It is the number of Singapore dollars needed to buy one British pound. A rising price means the British pound is gaining against the Singapore dollar; a falling price means it is losing ground.

When is GBPSGD most active?

GBPSGD trades around the clock on weekdays, but it is usually busiest during the Tokyo and London sessions, and especially in the hours when the two sessions overlap. The forex market hours tool shows those sessions in your local time.

How much is one pip worth on GBPSGD?

Pip value on GBPSGD depends on the pip size in the MT5 contract specification and on the Singapore dollar exchange rate against your account currency. Because Singapore dollars are converted into your account currency, the value per pip changes as that rate moves.

How much margin do I need for one lot of GBPSGD?

Margin is the position value divided by your leverage. One lot is 100,000 British pounds, so at 1:500 you need 200 GBP and at 1:100 you need 1,000 GBP, converted into your account currency. Leverage up to 1:2000 is available depending on your account; the margin calculator gives the exact figure.
