ABOUT

About British Pound / Mexican Peso

GBP/MXN is the exchange rate between the British pound and the Mexican peso. The price shows how many Mexican pesos one British pound buys: when GBPMXN rises, the British pound is strengthening against the Mexican peso; when it falls, it is weakening.

GBP/MXN is a minor or exotic cross, so it usually trades with less liquidity and wider spreads than the majors and can move sharply around local news. The British pound is one of the oldest currencies still in use and is traded heavily in London, the largest forex centre. The Mexican peso is one of the most traded emerging-market currencies and is closely linked to the US economy through trade.

On Xellion's MT5 platform GBPMXN is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 British pounds; the pip size and value are shown in the MT5 contract specification.

FAQ

GBPMXN questions

What does the GBPMXN price mean?

It is the number of Mexican pesos needed to buy one British pound. A rising price means the British pound is gaining against the Mexican peso; a falling price means it is losing ground.

When is GBPMXN most active?

GBPMXN trades around the clock on weekdays, but it is usually busiest during the London and New York sessions, and especially in the hours when the two sessions overlap. The forex market hours tool shows those sessions in your local time.

How much is one pip worth on GBPMXN?

Pip value on GBPMXN depends on the pip size in the MT5 contract specification and on the Mexican peso exchange rate against your account currency. Because Mexican pesos are converted into your account currency, the value per pip changes as that rate moves.

How much margin do I need for one lot of GBPMXN?

Margin is the position value divided by your leverage. One lot is 100,000 British pounds, so at 1:500 you need 200 GBP and at 1:100 you need 1,000 GBP, converted into your account currency. Leverage up to 1:2000 is available depending on your account; the margin calculator gives the exact figure.
