About British Pound / Canadian Dollar
GBP/CAD is the exchange rate between the British pound and the Canadian dollar. The price shows how many Canadian dollars one British pound buys: when GBPCAD rises, the British pound is strengthening against the Canadian dollar; when it falls, it is weakening.
GBP/CAD is a cross pair: neither side is the US dollar, so its price reflects the balance between the United Kingdom and Canada directly. The British pound is one of the oldest currencies still in use and is traded heavily in London, the largest forex centre. The Canadian dollar is tied closely to oil, one of Canada's main exports, and to the US economy, its biggest trading partner.
On Xellion's MT5 platform GBPCAD is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 British pounds, and one pip is 0.0001.
