Stagflation
Stagflation describes a combination of high inflation, weak or stagnant economic growth, and elevated unemployment. It creates a policy challenge because measures intended to reduce inflation may further weaken activity, while measures supporting growth may add price pressure.
In a hypothetical economy, energy costs push prices higher while production stalls and unemployment rises, creating conditions commonly described as stagflation.
