TRADING GLOSSARY
Inflation
Inflation is a sustained increase in the general price level of goods and services, reducing money’s purchasing power. It is usually measured through changes in a price index, rather than the price of a single product.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical price index, a representative basket rises from $200 to $210 over a year, indicating annual inflation of 5%.
