ABOUT

About Euro / Czech Koruna

EUR/CZK is the exchange rate between the euro and the Czech koruna. The price shows how many Czech koruna one euro buys: when EURCZK rises, the euro is strengthening against the Czech koruna; when it falls, it is weakening.

EUR/CZK is a minor or exotic cross, so it usually trades with less liquidity and wider spreads than the majors and can move sharply around local news. The euro is the shared currency of the euro-area countries and is the second most widely held reserve currency. The Czech koruna is the currency of a manufacturing-heavy economy closely tied to the euro area, especially Germany.

On Xellion's MT5 platform EURCZK is traded as a CFD, so you can go long or short without exchanging either currency. One standard lot is 100,000 euros; the pip size and value are shown in the MT5 contract specification.

What moves the price

  • The gap between interest rates set by the European Central Bank and the Czech National Bank, and expectations for where they go next
  • Euro-area inflation and growth data, especially from Germany
  • Business surveys such as the euro-area PMIs
  • Czech inflation data
  • Euro-area growth, given close trade links
  • Trade flows and major economic releases from the euro area and the Czech Republic
