Trading volume
Trading volume measures the quantity traded during a specified period, expressed in units such as shares or contracts. Coverage depends on the data source; forex platforms may show tick volume, which counts price updates rather than actual traded quantity.
In a hypothetical exchange session, trades of 20, 30, and 50 contracts produce volume of 100 contracts, counting each matched contract once rather than counting both counterparties.
