TRADING GLOSSARY
Symmetrical triangle
A symmetrical triangle is a narrowing chart pattern formed by lower highs and higher lows between converging trendlines. It represents consolidation and can resolve in either direction; its shape alone does not establish the direction of the next sustained move.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical currency-pair chart, successive peaks fall and successive troughs rise, compressing price into a smaller range before a breakout.
