TRADING GLOSSARY
Soft landing
A soft landing occurs when economic growth slows enough to ease inflation without entering a recession or causing a sharp deterioration in employment. It is often discussed as a possible outcome of tighter monetary policy, not a guaranteed result.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical economy, inflation eases while output continues growing modestly and unemployment changes little, illustrating a possible soft landing.
