TRADING GLOSSARY
Shooting star
A shooting star is a candlestick that appears after an advance, with a small body near the bottom of its range, a long upper shadow, and little or no lower shadow. It suggests rejection of higher prices and a possible bearish reversal, but does not guarantee a decline.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical rally, price surges during a session but retreats to close near its opening level, leaving a long upper shadow.
