TRADING GLOSSARY
Partial fill
A partial fill occurs when only part of an order's requested quantity executes. The remaining quantity may stay pending or be cancelled, depending on the order instructions. Separate fills can occur at different prices.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical example, an order to buy 100 units executes 40 units initially. The remaining 60 stay pending because the order permits them to remain active.
