Order execution
Order execution is the process of carrying out an instruction to buy or sell a financial instrument. The executed price, quantity and timing depend on the order's conditions, available liquidity and the broker's or venue's execution arrangements.
In a hypothetical scenario, a market buy order executes against available sell quotes. The confirmation records the filled quantity and price, which may differ from the earlier displayed quote.
