Market breadth
Market breadth measures how widely a market move is shared across its constituent securities. Indicators may compare advancing and declining stocks, trading volume, or the number of stocks above a moving average, helping distinguish broad participation from moves driven by a few large companies.
In a hypothetical market session, an index rises while 70 constituent stocks fall and 30 rise, showing that gains are not broadly shared.
