Gasoline
Gasoline is a refined petroleum fuel used primarily in road vehicles. Wholesale prices are influenced by crude oil costs, refinery output, inventories, seasonal fuel specifications and driving demand; retail pump prices also include taxes, distribution costs and retail margins.
In a hypothetical summer maintenance disruption, reduced refinery output tightens gasoline supply, raising wholesale prices even though crude oil prices remain unchanged.
