MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is one of the most widely used trading platforms in the world. It is built by MetaQuotes and offered by many brokers, including Xellion. This guide shows you how to download MT5 on every device, log in to your account, and fix the login problems people run into most often.

What you need before you start

  • A Xellion account (live or demo). You get your MT5 login number and password when you open it.
  • The server name. For Xellion live accounts it is Xellion-Live. For a demo account, use the server shown in your demo account details.
  • An internet connection and a device: Android phone, iPhone/iPad, Windows PC, Mac, or any browser.

MT5 download for Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for “MetaTrader 5” and check the developer is MetaQuotes.
  3. Tap Install.
  4. Open the app and continue to the login steps below.

About “MT5 APK download”: the safest way to install MT5 on Android is through Google Play. Avoid APK files from unknown websites – they can be modified and may put your login details at risk.

MT5 download for iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for “MetaTrader 5” (developer: MetaQuotes).
  3. Tap Get, then open the app.

MT5 download for Windows PC

  1. Go to the Xellion platforms page and choose Download MT5 for Windows.
  2. Run the installer and follow the steps.
  3. Open MetaTrader 5 from your desktop or Start menu.

MT5 on Mac

MT5 runs on Mac too. Download the Mac version from MetaQuotes, the company that makes MetaTrader, or use the web version below if you prefer not to install anything.

MT5 web terminal (no download)

If you can't install software – for example on an office laptop – use MT5 in your browser:

  1. Go to the platforms page and click Open MT5 in your browser.
  2. Enter your login, password and server.

Xellion also has its own Xellion WebTrader, which runs in a browser and uses the same account as MT5.

How to log in to MT5

On Android or iPhone

  1. Open MT5 and tap Settings (or the menu) → New account / Manage accounts → +.
  2. Choose Login to an existing account.
  3. Search for Xellion and select Xellion-Live (or your demo server).
  4. Enter your login number and password, then tap Sign in.

On Windows or Mac

  1. Open MT5 and go to File → Login to Trade Account.
  2. Enter your login number and password.
  3. Select the server Xellion-Live. If it isn't listed, type it in.
  4. Click OK. When you are connected, prices start moving in the Market Watch window and the connection status in the bottom-right corner shows data flowing.

Setting up MT5 after you log in

Once you're in, five quick steps make MT5 much easier to use:

  1. Add instruments to Market Watch. Right-click Market Watch → Symbols, then add the pairs you trade (e.g. EUR/USD, GBP/USD, XAU/USD for gold).
  2. Open a chart. Drag a symbol from Market Watch onto the chart area. Choose a timeframe (M15, H1, H4, D1) from the toolbar.
  3. Add indicators. Insert → Indicators. Start simple: one moving average and one oscillator (such as RSI) is plenty.
  4. Set your default lot size. Tools → Options → Trade lets you set a default volume so you don't open a bigger trade than you intended.
  5. Use stop loss and take profit. In the order window, always fill in Stop Loss and Take Profit levels. Use the position size calculator to size trades before you click Buy or Sell.

How to place your first trade on MT5

  1. Right-click the symbol in Market Watch → New Order (or press F9 on desktop).
  2. Choose the volume (lot size). For a first trade, use the smallest size available.
  3. Enter a Stop Loss and Take Profit.
  4. Click Buy by Market or Sell by Market.
  5. Watch the trade in the Trade tab at the bottom of the screen.

Not sure what a pip or a lot is? Read what is a pip and try the pip calculator.

Funding your MT5 account

MT5 is where you trade; deposits and withdrawals happen in the Xellion client area or the Xellion app. For Indian clients, Xellion lists:

  • UPI – instant, from $50
  • Bank transfer – within 1 business day, from $100
  • Crypto (USDT, BTC, ETH) – after network confirmation, from $10

Bank withdrawals are listed at about 15–20 minutes. Full details are on the funding page.
