TRADING GLOSSARY
Rate of change
Rate of change (ROC) measures the percentage difference between the current price and the price a specified number of periods earlier. Positive values mean price has risen over that interval; negative values mean it has fallen. The chosen lookback affects sensitivity to recent movements.
EXAMPLE
If a hypothetical asset rises from 80 to 84 over the selected interval, its ROC is 5%, calculated as (84 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100.
