Physical delivery
Physical delivery is settlement of a contract through transfer of the underlying asset rather than only a cash payment based on price differences. Delivery may involve warehouse receipts, title documents or account transfers, depending on the asset and contract rules.
For example, settlement of a deliverable metal futures contract may transfer an approved warehouse receipt to the buyer rather than ship metal directly.
