Money flow index
Money flow index (MFI) is a zero-to-100 oscillator combining typical price and volume to compare positive and negative money flow over a chosen period. Typical price averages the high, low, and close. Extreme readings are not certain reversal signals, and tick-volume inputs represent activity rather than actual traded quantities.
In a hypothetical calculation, positive money flow totals 300 and negative money flow totals 100. The ratio is 3, giving MFI of 75 using 100 − 100 ÷ (1 + 3).
