Labour force participation rate
The labour force participation rate measures the share of a specified working-age population that is either employed or unemployed and actively seeking work. It helps distinguish changes in unemployment caused by hiring from changes caused by people entering or leaving the labour force.
In a hypothetical survey, 6,000 of 10,000 working-age people are employed or actively seeking work and available. The participation rate is 60%.
