Grain futures
Grain futures are standardised exchange-traded contracts to buy or sell a specified quantity and quality of grain, such as wheat or corn, for a future delivery period. They support hedging and price discovery, with settlement and delivery obligations determined by each contract's rules.
In a hypothetical example, a wheat producer sells futures before harvest to offset some price risk, while differences between local and futures prices remain.
