Fiscal policy
Fiscal policy is the use of government spending and taxation to influence economic activity and public finances. Changes can affect demand, employment and inflation, while their effects depend on financing, timing and broader economic conditions.
In a hypothetical budget, a government increases infrastructure spending while leaving taxes unchanged. Other things equal, its budget deficit increases or its surplus decreases.
