Expiry date
The expiry date is the date on which a derivative contract reaches the end of its contractual life. Contract rules determine when trading stops and how exercise, settlement or delivery obligations are handled; the last trading date may differ from the expiry date.
For example, an expiring cash-settled contract stops trading under its published timetable, and any remaining position is settled using the specified final reference price.
