TRADING GLOSSARY
Stop-limit order
A stop-limit order activates a limit order when a specified stop price is reached. The limit sets the worst acceptable execution price, but the order may remain unfilled if the market moves beyond that price. Availability and trigger rules vary by platform.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical example, a buy stop at $100 activates a limit order at $101. Execution can occur at $101 or lower, but is not guaranteed.
