TRADING GLOSSARY
Spot market
A spot market is a market where assets are traded at current prices for prompt delivery or settlement, rather than a specified future delivery date. Settlement timing varies by asset and market convention; spot does not always mean immediate settlement.
EXAMPLE
For example, a company buys foreign currency in the spot market to pay a supplier, with settlement following the currency pair's usual timetable.
