Moving average convergence divergence
Moving average convergence divergence, or MACD, measures the difference between a shorter-period and a longer-period exponential moving average. A signal line smooths that difference, and a histogram shows MACD minus the signal line; crossovers and divergence describe changing momentum but can produce misleading signals.
If hypothetical shorter and longer exponential moving averages are 105 and 102, MACD is 3. With a signal line of 2, the histogram value is 1.
