TRADING GLOSSARY
Market maker
A market maker quotes prices at which it is willing to buy and sell an instrument, acting as a counterparty to trades. It may earn the spread while managing inventory and price risk; quoting obligations vary by market.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical quote, a market maker bids $50 and asks $50.05. A trader buying at the quoted ask pays $50.05 per unit, before fees.
