TRADING GLOSSARY
Gold
Gold is a precious metal used in jewellery, investment holdings and some industrial applications. Its price is influenced by factors including real interest rates, currency movements and investment demand; its reputation as a safe haven does not prevent price declines.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical period of market uncertainty, demand for gold increases, but a stronger US dollar offsets part of the upward price pressure.
