TRADING GLOSSARY
Auction market
An auction market brings together buyers’ bids and sellers’ offers under rules that determine which orders trade and at what price. Trading may occur continuously or at scheduled auctions, helping establish prices from available supply and demand.
EXAMPLE
In a hypothetical opening auction, an exchange collects buy and sell orders, then selects a price under its matching rules.
